West Jersey Local Update

Dec 7th, 2009 | By admin | Category: West Jersey

The new contracts were distributed during West Jersey’s fall General Membership Meetings. Members still needing contracts can pick theirs up during the next Membership meeting, December 16, 2009.

Members will see many changes from this strong, new contract, such as raises comparable to increases throughout the state.

Also, the contract provides new Per Diem language and a new tier system for better coverage during Holidays and other times during the year.

The contract also provides for a smooth and intact transition when construction is completed on the hospital’s new facility in Voorhees.

JNESO has resolved a variety of cases and grievances for West Jersey Members over the last few months, several that resulted in monetary awards and back pay, including issues of unjust disciplines and terminations (including termination-related resignations), and inappropriate cancellations. Other issues have involved health and safety concerns and contract interpretations.

Remember – you contract protects you, but only if you report concerns to a Steward. And our Local is always looking for new Stewards to help support our Members! If you are interested, please contact the JNESO office at (732) 745-2776.

A reminder to all West Jersey Members: If anyone has short-staffing issues in their units, please fill out the Short-Staffing Forms. Give the form to your shop Steward, and make a copy for yourself.

Also: we have been getting grievances over issues of inefficient documentation, which make defending violations harder to do. Remember: If you do it, write it!
