As per the extension to the St. Michael’s Local contract, each year a salary study by the Hay Group will be conducted to see where nurses and technical employees of SMMC fall compared to six similar hospitals. It was an all too typical, too-busy July day for Reggie Abarquez. A JNESO member and emergency room nurse with 22 years experience at her inner city hospital, she was assigned to seven patients — a fuller load than usual, but not uncommon.
